Better Late and Never - MSI confirms plans to create new Radeon GPUs

MSI are making Navi 32 GPUs, but they will not be available at launch

MSI are not one of AMD’s launch partners for their newly revealed Radeon RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT graphics cards, and now we know why. Thanks to Andreas Schilling, Editor of Hardware Luxx, we can confirmed that MSI are planning to release new Navi 32 based RDNA 3 graphics cards, but that the company are not currently ready to manufacture these graphics cards.

With MSI being unable to manufacture new RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT in time for AMD’s product launch, MSI can therefore not be considered as a launch partner for AMD’s new Navi 32 GPU lineup. MSI fans can expect to see new Navi 32 based graphics cards in time, just not when AMD launches their new range of graphics cards on September 6th.

This confirmation puts to bed rumours that MSI were planning to abandon AMD and become an all-Nvidia GPU partner. This rumour always made little sense, as MSI were also late to launch Radeon RX 7900 series graphics cards for AMD, but that didn’t mean that AMD were abandoning AMD GPUs entirely.

Better Late and Never - MSI confirms plans to create new Radeon GPUs

AMD’s Radeon RX 7800 XT is designed to target Nvidia’s RTX 4070 graphics card, offering gamers more VRAM and more raw performance in many games while also arriving at a much lower price. With their Navi 32 based GPU designs, AMD plans to grab market share from Nvidia in the mid-range GPU market.

At this time, we do not know when MSI plans to launch AMD’s new Navi 32 based graphics cards, but we can confirm that MSI are indeed creating new RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT graphics cards.
