BIG POWER – Seasonic leaks the TDPs of Nvidia’s RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 GPUs

Seasonic lists a 500W TDP for Nvidia’s RTX 5090, and 12v-2×6 power for all RTX 50 series GPUs

Seasonic has listed TDPs and power connector requirements for all of Nvidia’s upcoming RTX 50 series “Blackwell” GPUs, even their RTX 5090. Most GPUs in the range have been listed with higher TDPs than their predecessors. Additionally, all models have been listed as using a 16-pin 12V-2×6 power connector.

If Seasonic’s TDP listings are correct, Nvidia’s RTX 5090 will feature a TDP of 500 watts. That’s 50 watts more than Nvidia’s current RTX 40 series flagship, the RTX 4090. Below are the listed TDPs of Nvidia’s RTX 5090, RTX 5080, RTX 5070, RTX 5060, and RTX 5050.

  • Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 – TDP 500W – 12V-2×6 power cable
  • Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 – TDP -350W – 12V-2×6 power cable
  • Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 – TDP -220W – 12V-2×6 power cable
  • Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 – TDP -170W – 12V-2×6 power cable
  • Nvidia GeForce RTX 5050 – TDP -100W – 12V-2×6 power cable

Nvidia’s RTX 5080, RTX 5070, and RTX 5060 have also been listed with TDPs that are higher than their current-gen counterparts. These TDPs are 30W, 20W, and 55W higher than Nvidia’s RTX 40 series models respectively.

Note that Nvidia’s RTX 50 series GPUs are not launching in the near-term future. As such, the TDPs and exact configurations of these new GPU models are subject to change. Even so, it is possible that Seasonic has some early details for these GPUs. After all, the PSU market needs to be prepared for what Nvidia has coming.

Why use 12V-2×6 power connectors on low-end GPUs?

Nvidia has been aggressively pushing the 12V-2×6 power connector. This was true for all high-end RTX 40 series GPU models, and especially for Nvidia’s RTX 40 SUPER series graphics cards. Moving the entire GPU market to the 16-pin 12v-2×6 standard is something that Nvidia wants to accomplish. Nvidia wants one power cable standard to support all graphics cards.

Rumour has it that Nvidia plans to launch their RTX 50 series of graphics cards in late 2024, starting with their RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 models. Other RTX 50 series “Blackwell” GPUs will be released in 2025.
