Brighter screens and BFI – LG showcases next-gen OLED tech at Computex
LG highlights its next-gen OLED display tech at Computex 2026
OLED technology is continuing to improve, and LG is leading the charge. At Computex 2026, LG are showcasing next-generation OLED technologies that will ensure their next wave of panels is better and brighter than ever.
For starters, LG has confirmed it has achieved VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1000 certification, with panels reaching a peak brightness of 2,000 nits. This tech makes OLED screens suitable for brighter rooms, where OLED screens have traditionally performed poorly.
Next, LG are showcasing OLED screens with Black Frame Insertion (BFI), which places black frames between normal frames. This increases motion clarity and perceived sharpness by reducing display motion blur. It looks like this tech will be built into next-generation screens, which is great news for gamers.
LG is also enhancing “Dual Mode” with Dynamic Frequency and Resolution (DFR) 2.0, which should enable faster switching between screen resolution and refresh rate modes. Currently, the exact advantages over DFR 1.0 are unknown.
Moreover, LG Display will present a next-generation zone featuring panels such as a Gaming OLED that reaches the level of the DisplayHDR True Black 1000 standard set by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA), delivering accurate color reproduction as intended by content creators. The panel reaches peak brightness of 2,000 nits, offering highly vivid visuals based on enhanced contrast.
A 27-inch 5K OLED panel with 220 PPI will also be introduced, providing print-level detail suitable for precision tasks such as graphic design and video editing, minimizing distortion and virtually eliminating color fringing.
LG Display will additionally showcase next-generation OLED technologies such as Black Frame Insertion (BFI), which ensures ultra-high-refresh-rate content runs smoothly without needing a high-end graphics card, and Dynamic Frequency & Resolution (DFR) 2.0, which allows users to switch between ultra-high-refresh-rate and ultra-high-resolution modes.

At Computex, LG also plans to showcase a new 27-inch 5K OLED monitor that aims to deliver “print-level detail” to graphic designers and video editors. LG also plans to showcase OLED gaming screens up to 39 inches in size. Their 39-inch screen is a large 5K2K panel that offers a 21:9 aspect ratio.
