Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will launch with DX12
Â
AMD’s chief gaming scientist, Richard Huddy, Â has just announced that Eidos-Montreal’s upcoming Dues Ex game, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, will launch with full support for DirectX 12 and a will include a built in benchmarking tool.Â
This means that the game will not be launched as a DirectX 11 title and patched forward to DirectX 12 at a later date, which is a great thing for those of us who are already running Windows 10 and DirectX 12 comparable hardware.Â
Â
Using DirectX 12 this game is expected to have massive performance advantages over DirectX 11 on both the CPU and the GPU sides thanks to the updates made to the API.Â
The game will also be making use of AMD’s TressFX 3.0 technology, which should give this game some of the most detailed hair ever seen in games. I wonder how it will compare to HairWorks in terms of visual and performance impact.Â
AMD’s TressFX 3.0 technology promises not to be as demanding as the original Tress FX 1.0 implementation that was used in used in Tomb Raider and this new itteration be able to be used in things like animal Fur as well as human hair. Hopefully the performance impact of this feature will not be as severe as TressFX was in Tomb Riader or HairWorks was in The Witcher 3, but we will not know before launch.Â
Â
Â
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will be released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on February 23rd 2016 and will support DirectX 12 and TressFx 3.0 on PC.
