Early AMD Radeon RX 9070 GRE Reviews launch in China

AMD’s China-only RX 9070 GRE is an interesting RTX 5070 competitor

Reviews for AMD’s China-only Radeon RX 9070 GRE are now being published, revealing the performance levels of AMD’s 3rd RDNA 4 graphics card. Over on Bilibili, a reviewer called “Carbon-Based Technology,” compared the GPU with all of its competitors, including AMD’s last-generation RX 7900 GRE.

Overall, AMD’s RX 9070 GRE proved to be a strong competitor to Nvidia’s RTX 5070, delivering largely similar performance to Nvidia’s GPU. The RX 9070 GRE also proved to match AMD’s RX 7900 GRE, delivering nigh-identical performance on average.

AMD’s RX 9070 GRE GPU delivers 84.7% of the performance of AMD’s RX 9070 (non-XT). This is due to the GPU’s lowered CU count and its lowered memory bandwidth and capacity. This GPU has 12GB of GDDR6 memory, unlike AMD’s other RX 9070-series GPUs. They feature 16GB of GDDR6 memory.

Sadly, AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 GRE appears to be a China-only product. AMD has not confirmed if this graphics card will ever become available outside of China. That said, AMD’s last-generation RX 7900 GRE eventually received a Western release.

Overall, the AMD RX 9070 GRE appears to be a solid product, filling the gap between Nvidia’s RTX 5070 and RTX 5060 Ti 16GB.
