Expect to see major improvements in OLED technology at CES 2025

LG to reveal 165Hz OLED TVs at CES 2025 and more efficient panel technology

OLED technology is evolving, and LG is getting ready to showcase its latest innovations at CES 2025. According to a report from FlatPanelsHD, LG will reveal a 165Hz G5 series OLED TV and showcase its 4-stack WOLED technology at the event.

With their 4-layer WOLED technology, LG has reportedly delivered a 25% increase in the peak brightness of their panels. Furthermore, these displays are said to be much more efficient and have a longer lifespan.

So, what does this new technology achieve? The simple answer is that it improves the light-emitting elements of LG’s OLED technology. Less inputted energy becomes heat, and more of it is emitted as light. This enables higher brightness at normal power levels and lower power levels at the same brightness levels. These features also reduce burn-in risk, increasing the longevity of these OLED displays.

FlatPanelsHD has reported that LG’s new G5 displays have been certified as being up to 21% more efficient than the G4 models they replace. That is a significant improvement for LG’s newest OLED screens. However, it remains to be seen how widely their G5 OLED screen tech will be used by LG’s 2025 display lineup.
