Forza Horizon 6 launches without FSR Frame Generation on PC
Forza Horizon 6 may only support Frame Generation on Nvidia GPUs through DLSS
We’ve been testing the PC version of Forza Horizon 6 and noticed the game shipped without FSR Frame Generation support. The game also appears to lack support for Intel XeSS Frame Generation, though we have not been able to confirm this as we currently have no Intel GPUs available for testing.
Right now, Frame Generation support appears to be exclusive to Nvidia’s RTX 40 and RTX 50 series GPUs. That’s bad news for all users of non-Nvidia GPUs, and users of older Nvidia graphics hardware. Remember, AMD’s FSR Frame Generation technology works on non-AMD GPUs, enabling Frame Generation support for older Nvidia graphics cards.
As of now, Playground Games has given no reason for Forza Horizon 6’s lack of support for alternative Frame Generation technologies. With DLSS, the game officially supports 2x, 3x, and 4x Frame Generation modes. RTX 50 series GPU users can also enable 5x and 6x Frame Generation modes with DLSS Overrides alongside Nvidia’s Dynamic Frame Generation technology.

Why isn’t FSR Frame Generation included?
Even with the addition of AMD’s new FSR Machine Learning (ML) Frame Generation tech on RDNA 4 GPUs, AMD’s Frame Generation technology is known for having poor frame pacing compared with DLSS. Has Playground Games avoided using it on these grounds? If not, why isn’t FSR Frame Generation available in Forza Horizon 6?
Recently, an AMD document on GPUOpen hinted at AMD’s plans to launch FSR Multi Frame Generation. If this is the case, perhaps Playground Games is waiting for this new version of FSR. Maybe this new version will deliver stronger Frame Pacing alongside higher Frame Generation modes. If so, it would address all of the technology’s major shortcomings.
