G-Sync HDR monitors to release “as soon as two weeks from now” from ASUS and Acer

Nvidia’s G-Sync HDR monitors have been a long time coming, with delay after delay plaguing these upcoming G-Sync 144Hz 4K HDR 10 displays thanks to the ultra-high-end hardware required for every aspect of these ultra HD displays. 

PC World’s Gordon Mah Ung has gotten a sneak glimpse at Acer’s X27 Predator G-Sync HDR monitor, having the opportunity to compare it to their standard 4K 60Hz G-Sync XB271HK while playing Final Fantasy XV, showcasing the visual differences offered by HDR10 and the high-quality visuals that Acer’s Quantum Dot 4K display can deliver.

During his time with these displays, Gordon reported excellent colour reproduction, brighter highlights and deeper blacks, describing the XB271HK as “washed out” by comparison. 

Acer’s X27 G-Sync HDR display comes with an AU Optronic Quantum Dot display, which offers a 4K resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10 support and a 384-zone Full Array Local Dimming (FALD) backlight. These specifications allow the Predator X27 monitor to offer a wide colour gamut, brighter highlights and deeper blacks while delivering an Ultra-high variable refresh rate thanks to Nvidia’s G-Sync HDR module.     

Most importantly, Gordon says that this monitor will release “as soon as two weeks from now” at an unknown price, with both Acer and ASUS releasing monitors with similar specifications. ASUS’ display is the ASUS’ PG27UQ, with both monitors supporting HDMI 2.0 (max 4K 60Hz) and DisplayPort 1.4.
