In recent months Nvidia has been focusing on their RTX graphics lineup, heavily pushing the RTX capabilities of their Turing architecture, which aim to bring both ray tracing and AI-driven image upscaling into the mainstream (though DLSS).

While Nvidia has been pushing the high-end market, it is easy to forget about what is happening on the low-end, especially within the realms of mobile graphics. 

Yesterday, an HP notebook called the ZHAN 66 Pro 14 G2 came to light, revealing the laptop’s integrated MX250 graphics chip, a new mobile graphics card for team Geforce. While this could be a typo in the notebook’s documentation, the fact that it is referenced twice (and the lack of MX150 references) hints at the legitimacy of the hardware leak, though at this time it remains unclear what the MX250 is.

It has been alleged that this is a Turing-based replacement of the GP108 graphics core used on the MX150, while others suggest that this graphics card uses a higher clocked/binned version of today’s MX150 silicon. Both are possible at this time, but the low-end nature of the MX series of notebook graphics cards makes an MX150 rerelease seem more likely, as Nvidia is likely to focus on Turing-based graphics cards like the RTX 2060 before shifting to ultra-low-end products.

The HP ZHAN 66 Pro 14 G2 is said to offer Nvidia’s MX250 graphics card with 2GB of GDDR5 memory, again suggesting that this GPU uses the same silicon as the MX150, though Nvidia could also be using GDDR5 for cost reasons or to decrease chip complexity.
