Intel confirms that ARC A-series GPUs won’t get Precompiled Shader Distribution

Intel’s Precompiled Shader Distribution is exclusive to Xe2 and newer ARC GPUs

Intel has confirmed that its Precompiled Shader Distribution technology will be exclusive to its ARC Xe2 and newer GPU architectures. Specifically, it’s coming to Core Ultra 3/200V series CPUs and Intel’s ARC B-series discrete GPUs. As for Intel’s ARC Alchemist A-series GPUs, they are getting left behind.

Precompiled Shader Distribution, as the name implies, distributes precompiled shaders for supported games. This reduces initial game loading times, as supported games will no longer need to compile shaders. Additionally, in-game stuttering during shader compilation can be reduced.

With this shader distribution technology, gamers can benefit from shorter loading times and smoother gameplay. For Intel ARC B580 users, initial loading times can be up to 21x faster with this tech (see Intel’s data here).

The Intel Precompiled Shaders are intended for Arc GPUs built into Intel Core Ultra 3/200V series and Intel Arc B-Series discrete GPUs. We don’t have plans to support products with pre-Xe2 architectures such as Arc A-series.

Intel

Intel is one of the first GPU manufacturers to implement Precompiled Shader Distribution within its drivers. While Microsoft is working on its own “Advanced Shader Delivery” feature, Intel is currently leading the pack in delivering precompiled shaders for its GPUs.

While it is unfortunate that ARC A-series GPU users will not receive this benefit, Intel has been generous in supporting its older GPUs. Note that ARC A-series GPUs support XeSS Multi-Frame Generation, a feature that Nvidia has locked to its newest GPUs.
