Intel makes history with ARC Discrete GPU market share gains
Intel is gaining market share alongside AMD, but Nvidia remains dominant
For the first time in its history, Intel has reported single-digit market share within the discrete GPU market. According to Jon Peddie Research, Intel’s market share increased by 0.4% last quarter, bringing its share to 1% in the discrete GPU market.
Intel’s new Battlemage series GPUs are selling, though its market share is nothing compared to AMD’s and Nvidia’s. AMD’s market share reportedly grew last quarter by 0.8%, giving it 7% market share. Nvidia’s market share dropped by 1.2%, leaving it at 92%.
Until now, Intel’s dedicated GPU market share was a rounding error in Jon Peddie’s market share charts. Now, Intel has market share. Overall, AIB GPU shipments increased 2.8% this quarter. This means that the discrete GPU market is growing, and that Intel and AMD’s GPU sales are growing at a faster rate than Nvidia’s.

Even now, Intel is a minor player within the discrete GPU market. If Intel can continue to increase its GPU market share, it will place pressure on Nvidia and AMD. Note that Intel’s GPU sales are primarily within the DIY PC market. If Intel continues improving its GPU technology, it could find growth with pre-built PCs in the future. That said, Nvidia is dominant in that space, and it will take significant effort to get vendors to switch to Intel ARC.
