Leaked benchmarks list the RX Vega 56 as a GTX 1070 killer

Benchmarks for AMD’s upcoming $399 RX Vega 56 have leaked online, detailing performance numbers that easily outpace Nvidia’s similarly priced GTX 1070.

Like all early benchmark results, this data should be taken with a grain of salt but it certainly shows some impressive performance from team Radeon. The data below showcases benchmark results from Battlefield 1, Civilization VI, DOOM (2016) and Call of Duty Infinite Warfare.

The source of these benchmarks states that Battlefield 1 was played at Ultra settings, Civ VI was played at Ultra settings with 4x MSAA, DOOM was played at Ultra with 8x TSAA and Call of Duty was played with its high preset. All results are using a resolution of 1440p.

Leaked Radeon RX Vega 56 benchmark results:

– Battlefield 1: 95.4FPS (GTX 1070: 72.2FPS)
– Civilization 6: 85.1FPS (GTX 1070: 72.2FPS)
– DOOM: 101.2FPS (GTX 1070: 84.6FPS)
– COD:IW: 99.9FPS (GTX 1070: 92.1FPS)

With its use of HBM2 memory instead of GDDR5, the RX Vega 56 has the chance to distinguish itself from its Nvidia rival in scenarios where games can be GPU bandwidth limited, which could give it an edge when running at higher resolutions.

Sadly we will not know if this data is true until official RX Vega reviews are released, which will be on August 14th.
