Lian Li PCIe 5.0/6.0 riser cable spotted – Ready for future hardware
Lian Li is ready for PCIe 6.0 hardware with its new riser cables
Lian Li is preparing to launch its next-generation PCIe riser cables, setting the company up for future hardware releases. With its new generation of riser cables, Lian Li has labelled them as supporting PCIe 5.0 and PCIe 6.0, showcasing how overbuilt their new cables are for today’s graphics cards.
While PCI-SIG has already ratified their PCIe 7.0 standard, today’s consumer hardware maxes out at PCIe 5.0. While next-generation server-grade CPUs will support PCIe 6.0, this feature is unlikely to arrive on consumer-grade platforms anytime soon. This means that Lian Li’s cables will be able to support new graphics cards well into the future.
PCIe 5.0 support arrived on consumer-grade graphics cards with the release of Nvidia’s RTX 50 series and AMD’s Radeon RX 9000 series. We expect the next generation of graphics cards to also utilise PCIe 5.0, at least within the consumer PC market.

Lian Li’s new PCIe cables are early samples, which means their design could change before their full production run. Regardless, we expect the full/retail versions of these cables to support PCIe 5.0 and 6.0, making them incredibly future-proof. That’s great news for PC builders who use vertically mounted graphics cards.
