Low supply at launch? Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti expected to have RTX 5080/5090-like launch

Nvidia didn’t learn anything from their disappointing RTX 5080/5090 launch

According to a report from Channel Gate (as spotted by Videocardz), supply for Nvidia’s RTX 5070 Ti graphics card will be low on day 1. Retailers expecting larger shipments of this GPU will reportedly be disappointed. If this is true, it will be difficult for gamers to purchase an RTX 5070 Ti graphics card on day 1.

Based on this information, Nvidia appears to have learned nothing from the launch of the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090. For those GPUs, day 1 stock was insufficient. This led to rampant scalping, artificially inflating the price of Nvidia’s newest GPUs. The same may happen with Nvidia’s 5070 Ti, as supply is expected to exceed demand by a huge margin.

If Nvidia repeats the mistakes of its RTX 5080/5090 launch, it will needlessly burn the remaining goodwill of PC enthusiasts. By launching with sufficient stock, Nvidia can avoid scalping issues. Yes, Nvidia may want to launch their RTX 5070 series ahead of AMD’s RX 9070 series. However, a bad launch will push a lot of customers towards AMD.

For many PC enthusiasts, the launch of new graphics cards is no longer an exciting event. It’s almost impossible to buy a graphics card on day 1. Furthermore, “MSRP” prices are no longer reflective of the real cost of new graphics cards. Yes, some are lucky enough to get GPUs at MSRP. However, for most PC gamers, these models are practically imaginary. It’s hard to consider an “MSRP” as real or legitimate if you can’t purchase a GPU at (or close to) that price.
