MSI launches new 32-inch QD-OLED monitors with next-gen upgrades

MSI launches two new 4K 240Hz X24-series QD-OLED gaming monitors

MSI is taking its QD-OLED lineup to the next level with its new MPG 322UR QD-OLED X24 and MAG 321UP QD-OLED X24 gaming monitors. These new screens are now officially available and should be available worldwide soon.

These new 4K OLED screens support refresh rates up to 240Hz and feature MSI’s new “DarkArmor Film”, which delivers deeper blacks and increased scratch resistance. When combined with their QD-OLED Penta Tandem panels, these screens can deliver brighter highlights and darker blacks than their predecessors. Furthermore, both of these screens are VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 and ClearMR 13000 certified. These certifications are for strong HDR support and exceptional motion clarity, respectively.

Both of these monitors support 4K at 240Hz via DisplayPort and HDMI 2.1. These monitors support VRR via HDMI and DisplayPort. With full DisplayPort 2.1 80 Gbps support, the MPG 322UR QD-OLED X24 can support 4K at 240Hz without Display Stream Compression (DSC). The MAG 321UP QD-OLED X24 uses DisplayPort 1.4 to support 4K 240Hz with DSC.

Both of these new screens feature “4th Gen QD-OLED” panels. Using Panta Tandem technology, MSI claims that these monitors feature +30% light efficiency, enabling higher sustained peak brightness levels and lower panel power consumption. This increased efficiency also helps to prevent burn-in.

Below, we can see the impact of MSI’s “DarkArmor” film. It enhances light absorption to eliminate distracting purple and reddish hues. MSI claims that this new film can improve pure black levels by 40%, increasing contrast. Additionally, this new screen surface increases MSI’s screen hardness from 2H to 3H. This delivers a 2.5x increase in scratch resistance.

Uniform Liminance, a must for desktop use

With uniform luminance, MSI allows users to adjust the HDR brightness curve to achieve uniform HDR luminance across certain display window sizes. This makes large bright areas of the screen more consistent. This prevents small bright windows from becoming eye-searingly bright.

For the most part, the MPG 322UR QD-OLED X24 and MAG 321UP QD-OLED X24 have the same feature set. Both use the same 5-layer tandem OLED panels, but only the MPG 322UR QD-OLED X24 has MSI’s AI Care Sensor. This NPU-based IC provides additional panel protection to help prevent burn-in. When users are not detected near the screen, the monitor manages its power states to protect the panel. This prevents unnecessary wear, which should help boost the screen’s longevity.

We expect MSI’s new MPG 322UR QD-OLED X24 and MAG 321UP QD-OLED X24 gaming monitors to become available at UK retailers soon. Currently, the UK MSRPs of these screens are unknown.
