Noctua would “love to” make an RTX 5090 – Insider confirms

Noctua would “love to” make an RTX 5090 graphics card, but supply is “simply too scarce” to make it happen

ASUS’ RTX 5080 Noctua Edition is now available in the UK, and it is one of the coolest-running and quietest RTX 5080 GPUs available. When talking to Kitguru, Noctua’s Jakob Dellinger, from Noctua PR and Product Management, stated that the company would “love to do a [RTX] 5090”, saying that it would be a “perfect fit” for the company.

Sadly, Noctua isn’t currently working on an RTX 5090 graphics card with ASUS. It was claimed that “chip supply for the 5090 is simply too scarce to make it happen “, at least, “at the moment.” Noctua isn’t ruling out the possibility of an RTX 5090 Noctua Edition graphics card. That said, making one doesn’t seem to be possible right now.

Even today, Nvidia’s RTX 5090 graphics card is in relatively short supply. It sounds like there isn’t enough spare GPU silicon around to create a new “Noctua Edition” SKU. Nvidia’s GB202 silicon, which powers the RTX 5090, also powers Nvidia’s RTX PRO Blackwell GPU, an AI-focused datacenter/workstation GPU that demands much higher pricing. If that GPU remains popular, it will be the product that gets the most GPU allocation, not the RTX 5090.

What would an RTX 5090 Noctua Edition (NE) look like?

Noctua’s Jakob Dellinger did speculate about a potential RTX 5090 NE graphics card. The GPU would need a higher-end heatsink than its RTX 5080 model. The graphics card could feature a vapour chamber, like ASUS’ ROG Astral RTX 5090. It could also feature larger/thicker heatpipes. Instead of the RTX 5080 NE’s 6mm and 8mm heatpipes, the RTX 5090 NE could move to 8mm heatpipes exclusively. These upgrades would make Noctua’s hypothetical RTX 5090 mode expensive. That said, there would be demand for a cooler/quieter flagship-level Nvidia graphics card.
