Nvidia aren’t providing reviewers RTX 5060 drivers ahead of launch – Igor’s Lab confirms

Nvidia’s reportedly withholding RTX 5060 drivers from the press until launch

Igor’s Lab has claimed that Nvidia has “decided not to provide any press drivers” for its RTX 5060 graphics card “until the launch.” This will prevent members of the tech press from creating RTX 5060 reviews ahead of launch. If this is true, reviews for Nvidia’s RTX 5060 GPU will not be available until after the GPU becomes available to purchase.

To say the least, Nvidia’s RTX 5060 launch is badly timed. For starters, the GPU launches on May 19th. This is when much of the world’s tech press will be at (or reporting on) Computex 2025. By releasing drivers on May 19th, Nvidia will release drivers when most analysts are occupied by their Computex coverage. In other words, many reviewers will not have time for detailed testing until Computex is over.

Below is what Igor Wallossek had to say about the situation.

This brief advance notice is aimed at all those who were perhaps looking forward to a detailed launch article on the GeForce RTX 5060 8 GB on May 19 and who I may now have to leave in the fog in disappointment. To avoid misunderstandings and unnecessary waiting: I will not (be able to) publish a review of the GeForce RTX 5060 here at the official launch. Not because the sample is missing – it’s already on the table – but because NVIDIA has decided not to provide any press drivers until the launch.

Based on the launch timing of the GeForce RTX 5060, it looks like Nvidia doesn’t want anyone to talk about it. Launching a new product at that time guarantees that it will be overshadowed by Computex coverage. Furthermore, releasing no press drivers before launch will allow the GPU to be released without any reviews or detailed product analysis.

If Nvidia wants nobody to cover its RTX 5060 launch, it may have succeeded. However, these tactics only diminish the brand’s reputation. Furthermore, this tactic will only delay product reviews. Nvidia won’t prevent negative coverage by denying reviewers access to drivers. Reviews will happen regardless. Note that some reviewers already have RTX 5060 hardware in hand. The only people preventing the release of day 1 reviews is Nvidia.
