Nvidia raises RTX 5090 and RTX 5090D V2 pricing due to memory costs – report claims
Nvidia reportedly raises RTX 5090 pricing for its partners
Nvidia has reportedly raised the pricing of its RTX 5090 and Chinese-exclusive RTX 5090D V2 graphics cards. While the official MSRP remains unchanged, the price Nvidia is selling chips and memory to its partners has changed.
Nvidia has reportedly confirmed to partners that GDDR7 price increases have forced this change. The increase reportedly happened on May 13th, and is an increase of “approximately $300 USD”. Over time, this price increase may push RTX 5090 retail pricing higher.
According to Chinese media reports, no other Nvidia RTX graphics cards have seen a price increase. It is worth noting that Nvidia’s RTX 5090 uses more memory than any other RTX 50-series GPU. The RTX 5090 features 32GB of GDDR7 memory, which is twice that of an RTX 5080.

Right now, Nvidia’s most affordable RTX 5090 graphics card on Overclockers UK, a UK retailer, is £3,299.99. Note that Nvidia’s official MSRP for the graphics card is £1,799. This means that Overclockers UK’s most affordable RTX 5090 is 83% above Nvidia’s MSRP. Note that Overclockers UK should not be blamed for this pricing. They aren’t purchasing these GPUs at or below MSRP prices. They aren’t the ones inflating GPU prices.
Will these GDDR7-related price increases soon impact other GPUs? Who knows.
