Nvidia RTX 5090D V2 Leaks – Targets August Launch
Nvidia RTX 5090 D v2 to launch in China this summer, meeting new US export guidelines
Earlier this year, Nvidia’s China-only RTX 5090D graphics card disappeared from Chinese retailers. Now, we know that this was due to new US export restrictions, which limit the AI performance of PC exports to the region. To replace this GPU, Nvidia has created its RTX 5090D v2 graphics card, which is designed to circumvent US export restrictions once again.
Prior leaks referred to this new GPU as the RTX 5090 DD. Now, it looks like Nvidia has settled on the RTX 5090D v2 name. This GPU will reportedly feature near identical specifications to Nvidia’s RTX 5090D, with the only difference being its memory specifications. Instead of having 32GB of GDDR7 memory over a 512-bit memory bus, Nvidia’s new GPU will feature 24GB of memory over a 384-bit memory bus. This reduces the GPU’s memory bandwidth and capacity by 25%.

Currently, it is unknown how this changed memory configuration impacts the gaming performance of Nvidia’s new GPU. The lessened memory bandwidth will undoubtedly impact the GPU’s AI performance. However, it remains to be seen if the GPU’s memory limitations will have a huge impact on gaming performance.
Nvidia’s original RTX 5090 D was almost identical to its non-D counterpart. The only significant difference was changes to its AI inferencing performance. This change did not impact gaming workloads, making the change a non-factor for gamers. With the GPU’s new v2 version, its lessened memory performance could impact gaming workloads. Regardless, this GPU will be much faster than Nvidia’s RTX 5080, which is currently the fastest GPU available in China.
