Nvidia sells RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 GPUs from a “food truck” at GTC 2025
Nvidia sets up an RTX Gear Store “Food Truck” at GTC 2025 to sell RTX 5080/90 directly to developers
Demand for Nvidia’s RTX 50 series GPUs is high, so much so that it’s almost impossible to get an RTX 5080 or RTX 5090 at a reasonable price. This is a problem for Nvidia, but it’s a bigger problem for developers. That’s why Nvidia has set up an RTX “Food Truck” at GTC 2025 to sell GPUs directly to developers at their MSRP prices.
Nvidia has told Tom’s Hardware that they have 2,000 GPUs in stock: 1,000 RTX 5080 GPUs and 1,000 RTX 5090 GPUs. These GPUs will be available spontaneously during GTC, and all of them will be available at their MSRP prices. They will be a mix of Nvidia Founders Edition models and models from Nvidia’s AIB partners.
These GPUs will only be available to GTC 2025 attendees. GTC, Nvidia’s GPU Technology Conference, has conference passes that are available for $1,145 for one day and $2,295 for five days. With this in mind, GTC attendees have paid Nvidia a massive sum for the opportunity to purchase an RTX 5080/90 from a food truck at its MSRP price.

Nvidia selling RTX 50-series GPUs at GTC makes a lot of sense. After all, a GPU in the hands of a developer is worth more than a GPU in the hands of a gamer. Developers will use that GPU to create games/software that can/will sell more GPUs. With this in mind, it makes sense for Nvidia to stockpile RTX 50-series GPUs at MSRP. That said, it wouldn’t be surprising if some GTC attendees sold these GPUs after the event at an inflated price.
