
Nvidia’s GTX 1070 Ti is expected to use 9Gbps memory
Nvidia’s rumoured GTX 1070 Ti is expected to release in late October, though right now nothing has been confirmed about this GPU from official sources publically. For now, we are hearing specifications from all across the web, suggesting that the GTX 1070 Ti will sit very close to the company’s GTX 1080 GPU, in terms of raw GPU horsepower and leave AMD with no real option to counterattack unless they want to release another Vega 10 based SKU.
To has now been suggested that Nvidia will be using 9Gbps GDDR5 memory on their GTX 1070 Ti GPUs, placing the GPU right in between the GTX 1070 and Nvidia’s original GTX 1080 in terms of memory bandwidth. It is worth noting however that some new GTX 1080 models use 11Gbps GDDR5X memory and that GTX 160 6GB is available with 9Gbps GDDR5 memory.
It looks like the GTX 1070 Ti is Nvidia’s planned refresh for the GTX 1070, though it looks like Nvidia are not just upgrading the memory performance (like their GTX 1080 and GTX 1060 6GB GPU refresh models from earlier this year) but are also offering some significant boosts in base GPU clock speeds as well as an increase in GPU core count.
The release of a GTX 1070 Ti would place AMD into a bad position in the gaming market, as it undermines the position of AMD’s RX Vega series GPUs, limiting their ability to combat Nvidia further.
