Nvidia’s next-gen GPUs could release as early as July
The report claims that a July release is likely for Founders Edition, Nvidia first-party, graphics cards, with Turing Quadro graphics cards releasing in August at Siggraph.Â
Graphics cards from third-party manufacturers like ASUS, EVGA, MSI and Gigabyte will arrive later than their Founders Edition counterparts, with a release estimate in August or September. Mobile versions of these graphics cards should release in Q4.Â
At this time not much is known about Nvidia’s rumoured Turing series GPUs, though given Nvidia’s recent focus on RTX Ray Tracing technology it seems likely that the company’s next-generation graphics cards will include Tensor cores. This feature enabled complex AI calculations and RTX support, with Nvidia’s Titan Volta being the only consumer GPU that currently contains the hardware feature. Â

Nvidia’s next-generation graphics cards are also likely to feature GDDR6 memory, which allows Nvidia to offer higher levels of memory bandwidth per chip and maintain higher memory bandwidth levels on a smaller memory bus. This technology will also reduce the power draw of each GPU per unit of memory bandwidth, leaving more power available to feed the compute portion of the GPU.Â
While specifications for Nvidia’s upcoming GTX 1180 and 1170 GPUs have “leaked”, most of the information that is currently available is nothing more than speculation, acting as placeholder (likely guessed) specifications rather than real data. Â
