PowerColor unleashes their Hellhound series Radeon RX 7900 XT/XTX GPUs
PowerColor has a new set of Hellhounds, their their fans can be set to ice blue or amethyst purple
PowerColor has just showcased their Radeon RX 7900 XT and XTX Hellhound graphics cards, detailing its PCB design, heatsink, colour scheme and more. Power-wise, this set of Radeon RX 7900 XT/XTX graphics cards are powered by two 8-pin power cables, just like AMD’s reference design.Â
Like PowerColor’s prior Hellhound series graphics cards, their Radeon RX 7000 series models also feature Ice Blue LED illuminated fans, but this time they can also be set to Amethyst purple to offer gamers a different colour option. Like AMD’s reference RX 7900 XT/XTX graphics cards, PowerColor’s Hellhound models will be cooled by three axial fans.Â
Below we can see an image of the RX 7900 XT/XTX Hellhound’s metal reinforced backplate, which features a cut-out design that allows hot air to move through the graphics card. Additionally, this image also shows us a BIOS switch that can switch RX 7900 XT/XTX Hellhound GPUs from Silent Mode to OC mode. Â
PwerColor’s RX 7900 XT/XTX Hellhound series GPUs use a premium 14-layer PCB and features 20 total VRMs, which is the same as Sapphire’s planned Nitro models (read more about Sapphire’s RX 7900 XT/XTX Nitro GPUs here). Unlike the RX 7900 XT/XTX Nitro from Sapphire, PowerColor’s Hellhound models will not feature three 8-pin power inputs, which may limit the power that is available to this graphics card for overclocking.  Â
The heatsink of PowerColor’s RX 7900 XT/XTX Hellhound graphics cards feature set of eight nickel plated copper heatpipes that sit on top of a GPU direct contact copper plate, which is attaches to both AMD’s NAVI 31 GPU core and its GDDR6 memory.Â
Another upgrade that PowerColor has given to its Hellhound series of graphics cards is its new ring-blade fan design, which PowerColor claims have given then GPU thermals that are three degrees cooler than before. This design also makes damaging your GPU’s fans a less likely occurrence, as it is hard to break individual blades on a ring blade fan. Â
AMD’s Radeon RX 7900 XT and RX 7900 XTX graphics cards are due to launch on December 13th, and we expect PowerColor to be ready to launch their Hellhound series GPU models on day-1. However, rumour has it that some of AMD’s partners will not be ready to launch their custom RX 7900 XT/XTX models in time.
