RTX 5050 9GB GDDR7 GPU Specifications leak

Nvidia RTX 5050 9GB spotted in shipping manifest – Specifications Confirmed

The renowned hardware leaker kopite7kimi has unveiled the specifications of Nvidia’s RTX 5050 9GB, an upgraded version of the company’s RTX 5050 8GB. This GPU uses 3GB GDDR7 chips instead of 2GB GDDR6 chips, which offers more memory bandwidth and capacity per chip. This upgrade is countered by a reduction in memory bus size.

Where the original RTX 5050 uses four 2GB GDDR6 memory chips over a 128-bit memory bus, its newer counterpart uses three 3GB GDDR7 chips over a 96-bit memory bus. Overall, this change gives Nvidia’s new GPU 1GB of additional memory and slightly more memory bandwidth. Like the original RTX 5050, Nvidia’s new model has the same 130W TDP. Furthermore, both models feature 2,560 CUDA cores.

Another leaker, @harukaze5719, has also spotted this new RTX 5050 model in a shipping manifest. This confirms the GPU’s 9GB GDDR7 frame buffer. However, the GPU listed is said to be “for testing purposes”.

If these specifications are correct, Nvidia’s new RTX 5050 is a pure upgrade over its predecessor. Note that despite its use of fewer memory chips, the upgrade to GDDR7 delivers a notable bandwidth boost, even with slower 28 Gbps GDDR7 modules. If Nvidia use faster GDDR7 memory, even higher levels of bandwidth are possible.

CUDA Cores Memory Capacity Memory Type Memory Bus Memory Bandwidth TDP
RTX 5050 9GB (Rumoured) 2,560 9GB (3x3GB) GDDR7 28 Gbps 96-bit 336 GB/s 130W
RTX 5050 8GB 2,560 8GB (4x2GB) GDDR6 20 Gbps 128-bit 320 GB/s 130W
