RTX 5060 Specs Leak – HUGE CUDA core count boost revealed

Nvidia’s giving its RTX 5060 a huge core count increase, but it remains an 8GB GPU

Kopite7kimi has detailed the specifications of Nvidia’s RTX 5060 in a new leak, revealing a large increase in CUDA core count over Nvidia’s last-generation RTX 4060. Sadly, Nvidia is sticking to an 8GB frame buffer with its RTX 5060. This will lead to many gamers experiencing VRAM-related issues, as many modern PC games require more than 8GB of VRAM to run optimally.

With 3840 CUDA cores, Nvidia’s RTX 5060 has 25% more CUDA cores than its predecessor. With a TDP of 150W, it also has 30% more power to play with. Thanks to its GDDR7 memory, it should also have ample bandwidth.

Aside from its memory capacity, Nvidia’s RTX 5060 boasts significant upgrades in all areas. While its memory bus size remains 128-bit, the move to GDDR7 should deliver a considerable increase in memory performance. Add on Blackwell’s architectural enhancements, and Nvidia’s RTX 5060 should be a winner.

Sadly, today’s leak says nothing about a potential 12GB RTX 5060. We know that 3GB GDDR7 memory modules exist. As such, there is no reason why Nvidia cannot address the RTX 5060’s only major shortcoming by making a 12GB model. If Nvidia made this GPU 12GB, it could be an ideal GPU for today’s mid-range market. If Nvidia releases its RTX 5060 as an 8GB GPU, it will launch as a compromised product.

RTX 4060 RTX 5060
Architecture Ada Lovelace Blackwell
CUDA Cores 3072 3840
Memory Type GDDR6 GDDR7
Memory Size 8GB 8GB
Memory Bus 128-bit 128-bit
TDP 115W 150W
