Samsung’s reportedly preps 500Hz QD-OLED monitor with 1440p resolution

Samsung may have created the world’s fastest OLED monitor – The ultimate gaming screen

According to reports from Korean media, Samsung is preparing a 500Hz Quantum Dot OLED gaming monitor. This is 20Hz faster than the fastest competing OLED screen, making it the ultimate panel for gaming.

This new Samsung monitor reportedly has a 27-inch 1440p screen. It is due to be released next year and may be showcased at CES 2025. Samsung is reportedly targeting an H1 2025 launch.

Thanks to their deep blacks, strong HDR support, and excellent motion clarity characteristics, OLED monitors are typically considered the best gaming screens. Overall, they deliver sharper details than traditional LCD screens, making this 500Hz screen superior to an equivalent LCD screen. These characteristics will make these monitors highly desirable among professional gamers and those seeking a competitive edge.

The problem with this 500Hz gaming screen is that running any game at such an absurd refresh rate is hard. Users of this screen will need top-of-the-line PCs to achieve frame rates that are this high in games. Even then, this will only be in older esports titles with low hardware requirements. After all, most PC games are not intended to be run at framerates this high.
