Witcher 3 Modkit Update Enables Texture Editing
Witcher 3 Modkit Update Enables Texture Editing
Â
Mant people have been rather disappointed in the Witcher 3’s Modkit, as it inevitable had to be compared to the treasure-trove which is the Mod creation tools for The Elder Scrolls Skyrim, to which every game is lacking in comparison too.Â
One of the most popular forms of mods for Skyrim are the visual kind, the mods which can make the game look better than almost any other, while at the same time bringing even the most high end hardware of today to it’s knees.Â
An upcoming update to The Witcher 3’s modkit will allow players to add new textures to the game, which will allow players to increase the resolution of textures or simply just replace them with more aesthetically pleasing ones.Â
Â
(Fan mde texture packs have proven very popular for other RPGs like Skyrim) Â

The long-awaited update to the modkit is right around the corner – it’s time to reveal the list of changes and fixes it’s bringing along.
- Fixed a bug causing wcc_lite to fail when uncooking the game.
- Added the ability to mod textures from the textures array.
- Added a warning information when wcc_lite failed due too long file path.
- Cleaned up wcc_lite output log.
- Fixed a bug when some normal maps and speculars were imported incorrectly. Now imported textures which name ends with “_n” and “_s” will be assigned to proper categories.
- It is now possible to add new textures using mods.
- Several fixes and minor improvements to Script Studio.
Â
Sadly this does not mean that more in depth modding tools will be coming to the Witcher 3, but at least these new tools will allow more modding to be done to the title. Sadly we do not have a definite release date for these changes to the Witcher 3’s modkit, but the developers do say that it is “just around the corner”.
