XFX claims its RX 9060 XT GPUs are cooler and quieter with Samsung GDDR6 memory
XFX achieves lower thermals and noise levels with Samsung GDDR6 memory on its Radeon RX 9060 XT V3
XFX has officially confirmed (on Bilibili) that using Samsung GDDR6 memory with its Radeon RX 9060 XT GPUs allows it to achieve lower thermals and noise levels.
As part of a 1-hour 4K burn-in test in FurMark, XFX noted that Samsung’s memory ran 10 degrees cooler than SK Hynix’s memory. Furthermore, the GPU with SK Hynix memory consumes an additional 24 watts of power. While the Radeon RX 9060 XT core on the GPU with Samsung memory ran hotter, this was due to the GPU having its fans operating at lower speeds (1461 RPM vs. 1814 RPM). The Samsung GPU had lower memory thermals, and that allowed the GPU’s fans to run at lower speeds, making the graphics card quieter.

XFX has made it clear that not all GDDR6 memory is the same. Even if two manufacturers can deliver the same memory speeds, one manufacturer can deliver better power consumption and thermal characteristics.
XFX’s new “V3” Radeon RX 9060 XT models use Samsung GDDR6 memory. These GPUs should consume less power and be quieter than older models. These new GPU models are now available in China. It may only be a matter of time before these new GPU models are released globally.
