Moving from generation to generation, we always see the same faces on the GPU front. No, we don’t just mean faces like Gigabyte, ASUS and MSI, we mean specific gaming sub-brands. We’re talking ASUS ROG Strix and MSI Gaming X, brands and models with can trace their way back multiple hardware generations where each series is recognisable and features minimal design changes year over year.

The idea is simple. If a design works, why change it? XFX didn’t get this memo. Today, a supposed XFX RX 5700 series prototype made it onto the web via Techpowerup, revealing a new design aesthetic from the company.

XFX’s Radeon Navi prototype offers a twin-fan cooling design and an unusual black shroud. This is unlike any of XFX’s previous-generation GPUs. That said, XFX is famous for creating radically different GPU cooler design with each and every generation of Radeon hardware.

At this time, AMD’s first custom Radeon Navi graphics cards are expected to hit store shelves in mid-late August, with higher-end models being expected in early September.    XFX's custom Radeon Navi RX 5700 series prototype has been pictured
Right now it is unknown whether or not this is XFX’s final design for their custom Radeon Navi RX 5700 series graphics cards. Regardless, this card looks a lot better than what XFX brought to the table with Vega…
