HTC Denies VR Spin Off Rumors

HTC has denied recent rumors that they would be spinning off it’s VR devision into another company, saying that they will continue to dedicate resources to VR and create maximum value for it’s shareholders.

This means that right now the HTC Vive will remain an HTC product, at least for the considerable future, showing that HTC still has faith in it’s product.

The HTC Vive is currently being seen as the VR headset that has the technological lead, having a more capable head tracking system than the Oculus Rift, shipping with motion controllers and having a front facing camera which allows VR users to see and interact with real world objects without needing to take off their headset.

With the HTC Vive’s technological advantages over the Oculus Rift and the backing of Valve a lot of people see it as the winner of this first round of the VR wars, but with a price still unannounced it is hard to tell exactly how well it will be adopted and perceived by consumers.

The HTC Vive will open for Pre-orders on February 29th and will ship in March 2016.
