The new HTC Vive will have a front facing camera and will allow both reality and virtual reality to be viewed at the same time.

While viewing both realities at once may seem like a very silly idea to some, it will allot the user to do things like drink or simply be aware of their surroundings white wearing the headset, allowing them to avoid collisions when using motion controls or to otherwise improve the safety while using the device.

Accessing the headsets front character and viewing reality will be accessible by the merely hitting of a button on the VR headsets motion controllers, making an image of the real world appear as a ghosted image on the screen of the VR headset.

The headset’s improvements over it’s older iteration include;

  • – A front-facing camera, so the user can view the world around them when desired
  • – A redesign of the headset and strap to make them more comfortable
  • – Interchangeable foam inserts and “nose gaskets” to better fit the shape of the wearer’s face
  • – A brighter display with better clarity than before
  • – Handheld controllers feature a range of updates including textured buttons, grip pads and softer edges

Right now nobody knows what the price of either the Oculus Rift or the HTC Vive will be, but tomorrow we should finally know the cost of VR as the Oculus Rift becomes available for Pre-Order.
