Sony hides PlayStation 5 Pro teaser in 30th anniversary message

PlayStation 5 Pro design confirmed with official teaser

Ahead of the release of Astro Bot, Sony released a 30th Anniversary Celebration post on their PlayStation Blog. There, the company released its first teaser for its upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro console, hidden amongst renderings of other PlayStation products.

Sony’s PS5 Pro console is the company’s new take on the PlayStation 5 formula. It will feature more powerful graphics hardware and new features and should be able to play supported games at higher resolutions and framerates. For some games, PS5 Pro may even support graphical features that the standard PS5 version lacks.

This PS5 teaser image shows a design that appears identical to the PlayStation 5 console design that leaked last month. This system has a similar aesthetic to the newer PlayStation 5 “Slim” but appears to be larger and feature three black stripes. Theoretically, this console should support the same disk drive add-on and face plates as the PlayStation 5 “Slim”.

Sony’s PlayStation 5 Pro console isn’t just a stronger version of the standard PlayStation 5. It reportedly features AI acceleration thanks to a built-in NPU and uses new GPU features from AMD/Radeon. This should enable support for AI upscaling support, faster ray tracing support, and deliver other benefits.
