SOVOL teases its first multi-filament 3D printer
SOVOL is about to enter its multi-material era
SOVOL has started teasing “something new”, a new 3D printer that promises to be both “multi-material” and “multi-colour”. Until now, SOVOL has specialised in single-colour/material 3D printing solutions, promising “open-source freedom” and a wealth of customisation options.
Based on their teaser image, SOVOL’s new 3D printer appears to be an SV08 Max printer with a new multi-material system. This system appears to have six separate filament lines, suggesting a multi-tool system with eight nozzles. While this has not been confirmed, this would deliver on SOVOL’s multi-colour and multi-material claims.
Currently, it is unknown if this new printer will be an upgrade option for the company’s existing SV08 printer, an entirely new printer model, or both. We expect to hear more about this new 3D printer soon.
Something new is taking shape.
Out of the shadows, a new era of color is coming.
Multi‑filament. Multi‑color. And unmistakably Sovol. Not ready to show you everything.
But ready to give you a first glimpse.Stay tuned. The wait will be worth it.#ComingSoon #SovolMulticolor pic.twitter.com/zdm3mFX9rC

SOVOL prides itself on the customisability of its systems. 3rd parties, like Co Print 3D, have already created multi-colour 3D printer upgrades for SOVOL printers. It will be interesting to see how SOVOL’s new multi-material solution works and how much their system will cost compared with competing systems.
Based on the teaser image above, SOVOL’s filament holder is not enclosed. This will be controversial for many users, as this means that filament isn’t stored in a drybox. That said, a drybox or dryer box storage option could become available as an optional add-on.
