The Call of Duty Movie now has a release date

Expect a long wait before Call of Duty hits cinemas

Last year, Paramount/Skydance announced that it had struck a deal with Microsoft/Activision to produce a live-action movie based on the Call of Duty franchise. Now, the Call of Duty Movie has a release date.

The Call of Duty Movie will be coming to cinemas on June 30th 2028. That’s right, they unveiled the release date more than two years in advance. I guess everyone can now mark their calendars…

Now that the movie has a release date, and an official X account… we should expect to start hearing more about the movie soon. Right now, the movie’s setting and cast are unknown. Since the Call of Duty franchise has several settings, pretty much any military setting could potentially host a Call of Duty movie. That said, given the popularity of the “Modern Warfare” games, that is the setting I’d expect.

No matter the setting, we can expect this film to be a big-budget release. That said, it remains to be seen how this movie will differentiate itself from other war movies. If any setting could be a Call of Duty setting, couldn’t any war film be a Call of Duty film? Furthermore, is Call of Duty a franchise that can sell movie tickets on its name alone? I guess we will find out in 2028.
