Cooler Master’s fanless XSilent PSU claims Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 support
New PSU claims to support Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5090
Nvidia’s RTX 5090 hasn’t been officially revealed, but that isn’t stopping Cooler Master’s new X Silent Edge Platinum 850 passive (fanless) PSU from being marketed with official RTX 5090 support.
Thanks to Videocardz, it has come to our attention Cooler Master’s Amazon (US) listing for their new X Silent Edge PSU claims RTX 4090/5090 GPU support. This listing comes less than one month after Nvidia’s RTX 5090 was added to Seasonic’s PSU calculator.
Cooler Master’s X Silent Edge Platinum 850 PSU is PCIe 5.1 and ATX 3.1 certified. That means that this PSU features a 12V-2×6 power connector. Support for these power standards is likely what Cooler Master are using to justify their RTX 5090 support claim. After all, all current generation high-end Nvidia GPUs already use this style of power connector.

Currently, Nvidia’s RTX 5090 is expected to launch in early 2025. Rumour has it that the GPU will feature 28GB of GDDR7 memory over a large 448-bit memory bus. Rumour has it that this new GPU will be clocked at higher speeds than its predecessor, boosting to over 3GHz.
Until Nvidia officially reveals their RTX 5090, all leaked specifications should be taken with a grain of salt. That said, it is basically a given that Nvidia’s RTX 5090 will be faster than its predecessor. As such, more/faster memory and higher clock speeds are to be expected.
