A New Borderlands 2 DLC is coming that ties into Borderlands 3

It looks like Borderlands 2 is receiving a new piece of DLC content, one which will help bridge the gap between Borderlands 2 and the game’s upcoming sequel, Borderlands 3.

This DLC was leaked via Steam and is titled “Borderlands 2: Commanded Lilith and the fight for Sanctuary”. The DLC appeared to be free on Steam and will come with new story content, new territory to explore, increased item rarities and a higher level cap. Below is a brief description of the DLC.

Return to the award winning shooter-looter for a new adventure that sets the stage for the upcoming Borderlands 3. Sanctuary is under siege, the Vault’s map has been stolen and a toxic gas is poisoning Pandora. Fight new bosses, explore new zones, get new loot (including an entirely new tier beyond Legendary) and join up with Lilith and the Crimson Raiders to take on a deranged villain hell-bent on ruling the planet

Returning players can pursue an increased level cap of 80, while newcomers can automatically boost to level 30 and dive straight into the action.

The title “Fight for Sanctuary” likely refers to Borderlands 3’s transition to a new Spaceship hub area called Sanctuary 3, suggesting that the Borderlands 2’s hub area will fall during this DLC pack. We can expect to learn more at E3 2019.

On Steam, Borderlands 2’s last DLC pack is listed with a June 9th release date, which suggests that the DLC will be released during E3, likely at the Microsoft Press Conference.
