A PC version of Gran Turismo 7 is under consideration, confirms Kazunori Yamauchi
Polyphony Digital is âlooking into⦠and consideringâ a PC port of Gran Turismo 7
Gran Turismo 7 launched back in March for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, and it looks like Polyphony Digital is now considering a PC port of their latest racing game.Â
In recent years, Sony has been actively bringing its library of PlayStation excusive games to PC, hoping to increase the company’s gaming revenues by selling games outside of their PlayStation ecosystem. Recent PlayStation to PC releases include God Of War, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, and Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
Polyphony Digital’s CEO, Kazunori Yamauchi, has recently stated that the studio are considering a PC version of Gran Turismo 7, but has confirmed that creating a PC version would not be an easy process.Â
Like most first-party games, Gran Turismo 7 is a finely tuned title, and that factor makes porting games to a new platform a difficult process. It takes a lot of effort to convert a hyper-tuned PlayStation game into a PC game. That said, Sony has made an effort to make PlayStation-to-PC conversions easier by acquiring Nixxes Software, a studio that specialises in creating high quality PC games.
With Sony hoping to bring its PlayStation IP to a wider audience, it makes sense for more niche titles like Gran Turismo to come to PC. Even so, the question now is should Gran Turismo 7 be ported to PC, or should Gran Turismo 8 be created from the outset with both PlayStation 5 and PC in mind?Â
