Age of Empires Definitive Edition has received a lot of negative reviews

Age of Empires Definitive Edition has been released, bringing back the PC gaming classic with visuals that scale up to 4K, a remastered soundtrack, gameplay improvements and several other design tweaks. From a business perspective, this game should be a slam dunk, recreating a classic game that can easily bank on the nostalgia of fans of the original.

So far, consumer reviews for Age of Empires: Definitive Edition have not been positive, with over 50% of early consumer reviews giving the game one out of five stars. It looks like the game is instantly crashing on a large number of systems, while others are experiencing intermittent crashes after around five minutes of gameplay.

On the UK Microsoft Store, Age of Empires Definitive Edition has 11 written reviews (at the time of writing), eight of which reference startup issues and crashes. While those that can run the game are enjoying the title, it is clear that the remaster is not without its problems.

Age of Empires Definitive Edition is currently available for £14.99/$19.99 on the Microsoft Store.
