Ark: Survival Evolved’s release has been delayed

Studio Wildcard has confirmed that they will not be releasing Ark: Survival Evolved from Early Access on August 8th, with the game’s release being delayed to the end of the month on August 29th.

The developer blames this delay on the game’s retail certification process, which “took a little longer than expected”. The developer has already reported that retailers have had a huge effect on the company, saying that retail partners forced the developer to increase the game’s retail price for its boxed release.

Let’s address the mammoth in the room. Official Release. As of today, ARK has completed its Gold Master and certification for retail release. This process took a little longer than expected and as a result, our release date has been pushed back to August the 29th.

We’re deeply apologetic for those who were negatively affected by the delay; it sucks, it wasn’t what we had wanted, nor planned but where we currently stand. We wanted to address this sooner but did not want to make any statements until we were completely sure of what was going to happen.

Last month, Studio Wildcard increase the price of their game from £24.99 to £49.99 on Steam, stating that the demands of physical retail forced such a hefty price increase.

The good news here is that those who already own Ark will be getting a free DLC, The Ragnarok, on the game’s official release date. This update will do several things which include increasing the overall world size by around 25% and adding new biomes to the game.

Ark: Survival Evolved will now release on PC, Xbox One and PS4 on August 29th.
