Ark’s Dinosaurs have been replaced with Pokemon in a new mod

Update – The developer of the mod has confirmed that the DMCA claim has been filed by another modder on the Steam Workshop, who is said to be developing a similar Pokemon mod for Ark: Survival Evolved. DMCA claims can be submitted by parties who are not the original copyright owners.

For many years, Pokemon fans have been crying out for a Pokemon-themed MMO, or at least a game where players could capture, train or battle with Pokemon in a world outside of the traditional games.

Now thanks to the power of modding a creator by the name of “Mystic” has replaced Ark: Survival Evolved’s Dinosaurs with Pokemon, creating what we think may be the greatest game mash-up of all time. This mod is called Pokemon Evolved and is currently available to download on the Steam Workshop.

Sadly, this fun may not last for long, as an unknown party (now known to be another mod creator on Steam) have filed a DMCA claim with Steam, which means that this mod may be taken down soon by Valve.

Note: A DMCA Notice of Copyright Infringement has been filed on this item. Valve will review the complaint and reach out to the person who posted this item and provide details and information on the next steps.

Below is some gameplay from this modded version of Ark: Survival Evolved, which amongst other things shows a ridable Zapdos, which is certainly something that I never expected to see in Ark: Survival Evolved.

All assets from this mod have been taken from Pokemon X and Y, which means that there could be grounds to take down this mod for its use of “stolen” assets and breach of Nintendo’s copyright.
Right now this mod is still available to download and play, though it is likely that this mod will be removed from Steam before long, so please download and play it while you still can.
