Bethesda is now rumoured to be creating a new game that is based on George R.R Martin's Game of Thrones (Song of Ice and Fire) universe, with many expecting an official game reveal to take place soon.

This rumour stems from a recently leaked "Bethesda: Game of Thrones" retail listing at Target, which sadly does not reveal any real information about the game. Some currently expect an Elder Scrolls-style open world RPG, though others see a Dishonored-style assassination game where the player assumes the role of a faceless man.

The Game of Thrones IP has already been used by company's like Telltale in a recent episodic series, though the IP has been used before in several RTS titles that pre-date HBO's TV show.

Bethesda says that they have two major games in development which have not been officially announced, making the prospect of a Game of Thrones game from the publisher seem plausible.

One can only hope this is true, even though Bethesda have said no to such a project in the past (and released Skyrim instead).Quote
