Blizzard Invites Warcraft 3 Pros to a secret event – I an HD remaster incoming?

Rumours of a Warcraft III Remaster have been circulating for quite some time, especially since the launch of Starcraft Remastered. Now it looks like Blizzard is inviting Warcraft 3 Pros to a mysterious offline event, where fans expect one of two things to occur.

The first and most likely of these events is the announcement of a Warcraft III remaster, a game that will capitalise on the success of Starcraft/Brood War Remastered and deliver players an opportunity to relive the classic.

Another possibility is the reveal of Warcraft 4, a new RTS title within the Warcraft Universe. Blizzard is currently the biggest name in the RTS genre, making them one of the few companies that can pretty much guarantee success in today’s market, especially if they can capitalise on the popularity of World of Warcraft. Warcraft 4 also offers the opportunity to explore a new section of Warcraft lore, potentially opening up more options for World of Warcraft.

Starcraft II is not expected to receive any more expansion content in the near future, leaving room for a new RTS development within Blizzard. That being said, it is possible that the company won’t see a new RTS as profitable enough to focus their efforts on, making a Warcraft III remaster more likely to happen than Warcraft 4.
