Every once in a while Electronic Arts decides to offer games in their extensive back catalogue to PC users for free, giving gamers an opportunity to catch up on a few classics while bringing more PC gamers onto the company’s Origin platform.     

This month EA are adding Dead Space to their free “On the House” program for a limited time, allowing PC gamers to catch up on this survival horror classic, delivering Origin users a full copy of the game that is accessible whenever they want it.

All PC users will require is internet access and a free Origin account to access this title and all of the nightmarish horrors it contains. 

  

Dead Space is currently available for free on Origin  

Like most games from this era, Dead Space is exceptionally easy to run on modern hardware, requiring a Geforce 6800 or an ATI X1600 or better to play and at least 2GB of system memory and 7.5GB of HDD space. Pretty much any modern gaming PC will be able to run this game with ease. 

System Requirements

– For Windows XP (SP2) or Vista
– 2.8 GHz processor or equivalent
– 1 GB RAM (XP), 2 GB RAM (Vista)
– NVIDIA GeForce 6800 or better (7300, 7600 GS, and 8500 are below minimum system requirements)
– ATI X1600 Pro or better (X1300, X1300 Pro and HD2400 are below minimum system requirements)
– 256MB Video Card and Shader Model 3.0 required
– The latest version of DirectX 9.0c
– At least 7.5GB of hard drive space for installation, plus additional space for saved games.
