Destiny 2’s core game is going Free-to-Play leak reveal

Later today, Bungie plans to host a live event which will detail the “Next Chapter of Destiny 2”, but unfortunately for them, Engadget has accidentally published an article which covers the event’s announcement plans, spoiling the entire showcase. This article has since been removed from the internet, but that hasn’t removed our memory of what was written down.

Destiny 2’s core content is going free-to-play, with the PC version of the game coming Steam, breaking the title’s Battle.net exclusivity. When the game’s next expansion, “Shadowkeep”, becomes available on September 17th, Destiny’s year-1 content will become available for free under the name “Destiny 2: New Light. New expansions will remain as premium content.

On PC and Xbox One, players of Destiny 2 will be able to utilise cross-platform saves, with PS4 being excluded from this feature. Bungie has also confirmed that there will no longer be any platform-exclusive weapons, armour, maps or activities, giving content parity between the game’s PC, Xbox One and PS4 versions.

Bungie has also confirmed that Destiny 2 will be coming to Google’s Stadia platform, allowing the game to be live streamed to the homes of players when the service launches later this year.

Bungie’s “Next Chapter of Destiny 2” stream is available below. The stream will go live at 6 PM BST.
