Dragon’s Dogma to receive Anime Adaptation on Netflix
Dragon’s Dogma to receive Anime Adaptation on Netflix
Dragon’s Dogma was initially released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012, with an enhanced version of the game called Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen releasing in the following year. This enhanced version of the game later released on PC in 2016 and on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017. Now the game is set to arrive on Nintendo Switch sometime in 2019.Â
While the series has only two games under its belt, the second being the Japan-exclusive MMO Dragon’s Dogma Online, Capcom’s pairing with Netflix appears to be an odd one, though this won’t be the first time that Netflix has teamed up to create shows based on gaming IP. Other recent examples of Netflix’s gaming collaborations are their Castlevania anime series and their planned live-action The Witcher series, though the latter is likely to be more closely linked to the series’ novels.Â
Below is the official blurb of the series.Â
Based on a world-famous action RPG set in an open world, Dragon’s Dogma from Capcom will be brought to life as a Netflix original anime series. The story follows a man’s journey seeking revenge on a dragon who stole his heart. On his way, the man is brought back to life as an ‘Arisen’. An action adventure about a man challenged by demons who represent the seven deadly sins of humans.
In recent a recent interview, Dragon’s Dogma’s director, Hideaki Itsuno, expressed an interest in creating a new entry in the series after finishing his work on Devil May Cry 5, stating to Eurogamer that If someone would let me, it’s what I’d want to do. I already know what the story would be. It’s just about convincing people to let me make it. So please bombard Capcom Europe!”
At this time Netflix’s Dragon’s Dogma anime has no set release schedule.Â
