EA brings many of its Origin Classics to Steam – EA Access is on the way

EA’s bringing is, now former, Origin Exclusives to Steam. Today 13 classic EA titles to Valve’s platform for the first time, including Crysis 3, Dragon Age II, FE, Burnout Paradise Remastered and Mirror’s Edge Catalyst. 

Today, EA also confirmed that EA Access is coming to Steam, a subscription service which will allow EA Games to be accessible on Steam with a monthly payment. Strangely, this service is not called Origin Access on Steam, a factor which could mean that Steam’s EA Access service could offer fewer games than its Origin-based equivalent. 

Like other recent EA-to-Steam releases, these new titles all require Origin to run. Purchasing these games on Steam will allow these games to be downloaded using the Steam client and be booted using Valve’s launcher. However, these games will utilise EA’s Origin service to operate. Origin will run in the background when using these games on Steam, a factor which will annoy Steam purists. 

The following games have arrives on Steam today. All of these games currently have discounts of 50% or more on Steam. 

– Burnout Paradise Remastered
– Crysis 3
– Dragon Age II
– Dragon Age: Inquisition
– FE
– Mirror’s Edge Catalyst
– Need for Speed
– Need for Speed Heat
– Need for Speed Rivals
– Plants VS Zombies: Battle for Neighborville
– Sea of Solitude
– Unravel
– Unravel Two

At this time, many of EA’s most popular titles remain unavailable on Steam, such as The Sims 4, the FIFA series, Dead Spece 3, the Madden series, the Battlefield series and the modern Star Wars Battlefront series. At this time it is unknown if EA plans to bring its entire gaming library to Steam.
