EA’s Anthem Gains a Live Action Trailer

Neill Blomkamp, the director of District 9, has created a live-action short that’s based on Bioware’s Anthem, which releases on February 22nd on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

This live-action trailer was created thanks to a collaboration between Neill Blomkamp, Oats Studios and BioWare, telling a short survival story which is set decades before the events of the game. The short explains some of the lore behind the game, outlining humanity’s position as former “slaves of the Urwrath”, why the human race lives behind huge walls of Fort Tarsis and showcases some epic scenes of Javelin combat.

Blomkamp is not new to gaming partnerships, having created Halo Landfall for Bungie in the lead-up to Halo 3. Landfall is currently available to watch on Bungie’s YouTube account.

Given Blomkamp’s affinity for robots and mech suits, it is understandable why he would see the world of Anthem as intriguing. At this time it is unknown if EA has any further plans to create more Anthem shorts or create more live-action content based in the Anthem universe.
