Epic Games announces Nvidia’s Edge program for Unreal Engine 4

There is no doubt that the Unreal Engine is capable of some amazing feats, but even the most talented developers will need powerful hardware to take their projects to the next level.

Epic Games has now revealed their Nvidia Edge Program for Unreal Engine 4, where Epic Games and Nvidia have teamed up to highlight/ promote three talented developers a month and give them a free GTX 1080 or GTX 1080 Ti GPU aid in their development efforts.

This project will be starting this month, with the first round of winners being revealed at the end of July. The winners will have their projects promoted on the official Unreal Engine and Nvidia Blogs, with the potential of additional promotion on other platforms.

To apply for this program developers need to share in-engine still or videos of their “stunning projects on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and mention both the Unreal Engine and Nvidia accounts on their social media posts. From these posts, the companies will choose their favourites.

From the looks of it, this program is designed to increase the mentions of each company and their products on social media by giving developers a chance to get additional promotion and free hardware for development. It will almost go without saying that only the most beautiful or “stunning” projects will get chosen to be showcased by this program, though we do hope that Unreal chooses games with a little more substance than sheer graphical flash.
