FIFA 21’s PC version will not feature the series’ next-generation enhancements at launch

While EA has stated that “We’ll have more information on it in the coming weeks”, this is by no means a confirmation that the game will receive a next-generation update on PC. 

On PC, FIFA 2021 will be available on Steam and Origin, making this the first FIFA game to be released on Valve’s Steam platform, and we have already reported on the game’s PC system requirements. These system requirements are almost identical to those listed for FIFA 20, further confirming that the game is based on FIFA 21’s Xbox One and PlayStation 4 version, setting the same hardware baseline for all platforms. 

Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 will allow FIFA 21 to deliver a large number of graphical upgrades, sporting improved player animations, “deferred lighting and rendering”, and support for haptic feedback on Sony’s new DualSense controller. 

The PC version of FIFA 21 will be released on the same day as the game’s PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, revealing EA’s intention to keep the PC version on par with the game’s console releases. At this time, EA has not committed to giving PC gamers a “next-generation” update after launch, even though PC gamers can have strong enough hardware to match, or approximate, what both next-generation systems can offer.
