Epic Games’ has revealed that their popular online game Fortnite has been negatively affected by the introduction of software fixes for Meltdown, a recently discovered attack vector for certain processors.

Players have been suffering from connectivity issues since the introduction of these fixes onto the cloud services that the game’s back-end relies on. Epic Games expects that additional “unexpected issues” are expected as this fix is introduced to the game’s other online services. In other words, these issues are likely to get worse before the problem is resolved.

Below is an image that reveals a huge increase in CPU usage on affected servers, showcasing how much of an impact Meltdown can have on certain online services. It will be interesting to see whether or not other games will be hit with similar issues as updates continue to be rolled out on online services.
